About us

Masonry, roofing and renovation, under one contractor

We work on houses in Etobicoke, across Toronto and through the GTA, on the outside of the building and the inside of it.

Trowels, a level, a tape measure and gloves laid out on a tailgate
What we do

Two sides of the same house

The exterior half is the building envelope: brick and block, repointing, chimneys, lintels and parging, concrete walkways, steps and driveways, and roofing on both shingle and flat systems with the flashing and eaves that go with them. It takes the freeze and thaw, the rain off the lake and the salt off the road, and it fails quietly while nobody looks at it.

The interior half is renovation: kitchens and bathrooms, basements, framing, drywall, taping, painting and flooring. That is the work you see every day, so it is finished to a standard that stands up to daylight.

Why it matters

One contractor when a job crosses trades

Damage in a house rarely stays inside one trade. A stain spreading across a bedroom ceiling starts at a flashing detail on the roof and finishes as ruined drywall. A basement that smells damp can be a grade problem outside, a cracked parge coat, or a downspout emptying against the wall, and the board is only where you notice it.

When separate companies own separate parts of that chain, you end up holding the seam between them. The roofer says the roof is fine now, the drywaller says the ceiling was wet when they arrived, and the argument is yours to carry. Covering both sides removes that gap: the same contractor finds the cause outside, fixes it, lets the structure dry, then rebuilds inside. Ordinary work runs better that way too, because one scope covers the whole thing.

How we work

What you can expect on any job

A written scope and quote

The work is described on paper before it starts, so we are both agreeing to the same job.

Your house protected

Floors, furniture, planting and the rooms we are not touching get covered and closed off.

Permits where the work needs them

Where the City requires a permit and inspections, they are pulled and booked.

Specialist trades for plumbing and wiring

That work goes to the trades who do it, and it is inspected where the permit calls for it.

Daily clean up

Waste leaves as the job goes, not in one pile at the end.

A walk through at the end

We go through the finished work with you and close out what is outstanding.

Where we work

Etobicoke, Toronto and the GTA

We are based at 81 The East Mall in Etobicoke, and most of our work sits within a short drive of it. That covers Etobicoke itself, including Mimico, New Toronto, Long Branch, Alderwood, Islington Village, The Kingsway, Sunnylea, Markland Wood, Humber Bay Shores and Rexdale. Heading east it takes in the west end of Toronto: Bloor West Village, Swansea, High Park, Baby Point, Roncesvalles, the Junction, Mount Dennis and Weston. We also take work beyond the city boundary into the near GTA, so if you are outside that ring it is worth asking.

The housing here shapes the work. Much of west Toronto is solid masonry and brick veneer from before the war, and a great deal of Etobicoke is post-war bungalows and back splits with their original chimneys and mortar. Semis and row houses bring party walls into almost every interior job.

Our work

The kinds of jobs we are called for

What a typical enquiry looks like.

Close view of crumbling mortar joints and a spalled brick in an old wall

Masonry letting water in

Mortar joints washing out, a chimney losing its crown, a lintel rusting above a window. Masonry rarely fails all at once, so fixes are targeted.

Asphalt shingles being nailed over ice and water shield at a roof eave

A roof at the end of its life

Curling shingles, granules in the eaves, standing water, flashing opened at a wall. We say whether a repair is honest or the roof is finished.

Cabinet being shimmed and levelled against a wall with a clamp joining two stiles

A kitchen that no longer suits the house

Layouts opened up, services moved, then walls, floors and ceilings put back.

Questions homeowners ask before hiring anyone

How do you put a quote together?

We come and look at the work, ask what you are trying to achieve, and write down what we would do. The scope is in plain language so you can compare it against anyone else’s. If something can only be priced once it is opened up, we say so.

Where the work requires a permit it is applied for and the inspections are booked. Structural changes, new openings and much plumbing and electrical work fall into that category. Straightforward repair usually does not, and we will tell you which side your job sits on.

We stop and show you before going further. Rot under a roof or water damage inside a wall changes the scope, and that change goes to you in writing before work continues.

For most jobs, yes. Exterior work barely touches your routine beyond noise and access. Interior work is managed room by room, with dust barriers at the openings and services kept running.

The standards this work is held to
